I remember I had been working since 6 am that day, having just started a new business.

I had sold my restaurant a few months earlier. Wanting to be outside… less stress… with more time home… I had started a pool maintenance and repair business.

My days ran from up at 5 am, to done and home by 1 pm in time for my youngest getting home from school.

But this day, she never came home. Instead, a call from the hospital.

Paramedics who found her at a friends house, said she and her friends had been drinking.

My daughter was comatose. They had brought her back to life.

Later they told me, 5 more minutes would have been too late.

The mother of one girl whose home they were at, had come home early from work, found my daughter and called 911.

Today, at 32yo., she has never returned to the smart and funny daughter I knew back then. Over 10 years of heroin addiction does that, and a LOT more.

As time would have it… each of these kids, 14–15 yo., would soon be in jail.

The nightmare was just beginning for my daughter, and our family.

Millions today are experiencing similar life changes. Nothing is, or will ever be, the same.

This is a chance we all have been given to be, and to become, better humans… better people. God indeed works in mysterious ways.
